Red Stripe 20/20

Overview

The Red Stripe Twenty/20 series is a new event that the JCA has introduced during the 2009 Cricket season. The sponsors, Red Stripe have entered into a three-year sponsorship with the JCA to produce the most exciting cricket product on the local landscape. Twenty/20 cricket forms part of the JCA’s marketing and promotional campaign aimed at fostering interest and enthusiasm from players and spectators.

Duration: FOUR WEEKS

Format:

24 Teams – All teams involved in the SuperCricket League/Senior Cup plus 2 invitees. Invited teams are the National SDC champions plus a Caribbean team to be decided;
4 Weekends and 4 Venues. Matches will be played on Saturdays and Sundays at the same venue – with 2 matches played each day at the venue.
Matches are played on a Knockout basis.
The top 6 teams in the 2008 Jamaican Super League plus the invited teams are allowed a bye into the 2nd round

Prize Monies:

Each team receives a mobilization sum at start of competition;
Special prize money for winning team only.
Teams earn increasing prize monies for every match won; only match winners earn prize monies after the 1st round.
